Water Intake & Outfall System of Parehsar Combined Cycle Power Plant

Introduction

Parre Sar Combined Cycle Power Plant (Parre Sar CCPP) with 2×165 MW and 4×140 MW Gas units is located at the southern Caspian Sea coastline. Construction of another power plant with the same capacity is considered for future development. Once-through seawater was chosen for cooling system. The volume of the required water is about 151,000 cubic meters per hour. The components of intake and discharge system are as below:

  • Stilling basin including two rubble mound breakwaters with 750 and 1000 m long and dredging 172,000 cubic meter;
  • Intake culvert (first part) with 100m length, 13.3m width and 3.7m height;
  • Intake culvert (second part) with 180m length, 6.9m width and 3.7m height;
  • Pump Basin with length of 54m, width of 18.5m and height of 15m;
  • Cooling pipeline with length of 230m and discharge pipeline with 550m length;
  • Discharge channel with 860m length, 9.2m width and 3.5m height;
  • Outlet Nozzle with 21m length, 9.5m width and 10.5m height
