Update and Review of Iranian Commercial Ports Master Plan
Introduction
The project’s main goals are to forecast 11 major ports’ throughput in 2025, comparing the forecasted throughput with the existing capacity of the ports, forecasting ports’ marine traffic, and preparing a list of ports’ bottlenecks which should be improved. SPI is performing the studies and Selhorn (Germany) is checking, commenting and approving the reports. The project includes capacity calculation in all parts (marine affaires, berthing, loading and discharging, storage, hinterland, gates, etc) and so essential physical and non-physical requirements of the ports will be determined. Cargo throughput forecast includes all different custom routines (import, export, transit, transhipment and cabotage) each of them is forecasted by different models. Also, cargo allocation among the ports is done according to the “ports’ development strategic plan” which will be developed in the studies. SPI provided the following services:
- Major ports’ market study;
- Forecasting Iranian foreign trade up to 2025;
- Forecasting volume of cargo transited via Iran up to 2025;
- Marine and hinterland capacity calculation
