Introduction

In this project, the publication No. 242 of the Plan and Budget Organization of Iran entitled "Guide to River Flood Control Methods", which was compiled 20 years ago, is to be revised and its content will be completed and updated. The current publication focuses on structural flood control methods, while an important part of the methods of flood control and damage reductions are non-structural and management methods, which, along with structural methods is more influential and result in better economic conditions. The content of the new revision has been updated based on the latest national and international findings and achievements. Moreover, non-structural methods concerning new and environmentally friendly approaches will be addressed, so that this guide includes all possible measures in flood control and damage reduction.
