Surveying Services and Boundary Delimitation Studies of Estil Wetland – Astara
Introduction
Estil Wetland is a permanent freshwater wetland in northern Iran, currently designated as the Estil No-Hunting Zone under the supervision of the Department of Environment. Located near Abbasabad village in Astara, it is also known as Estil Abbasabad Wetland. Its calm waters and relative safety make it a seasonal habitat for migratory birds, adding to its ecological significance.
Located between the Estil Mountains and the main road—and adjacent to an international hotel and tourist attractions—this wetland holds substantial environmental, economic, and social value. During bird migration seasons, it hosts thousands of migratory birds, making it a prime location for birdwatching. However, in recent years, population growth and human encroachment have contributed to a decline in bird populations.
In accordance with national regulations, the Ministry of Energy is responsible for the management and regulation of wetlands. As its representatives, Regional Water Companies conduct bed and boundary delimitation studies to safeguard these national resources and mitigate the negative impacts of land encroachment.
Within this framework, Sazeh Pardazi Iran Consulting Engineers, through its Water and Environmental Engineering Department, has been commissioned to carry out the Survey and Legal Boundary Delimitation Studies of the Estil Wetland, based on its proven expertise in national water engineering projects.
