Business Plan Preparation for the Operation of the Mineral Terminal at Imam Khomeini Port
Introduction
This study was conducted to develop a business plan and investment model for Sina Company at the Mineral and Construction Materials Terminal of Imam Khomeini Port. Within the framework of this project, the baseline assumptions and key parameters of the financial model were initially defined and clarified to establish a solid foundation for analyzing various investment scenarios. Based on this model, the required equipment and infrastructure were identified, and a conceptual design was developed to comprehensively cover all operational components of the terminal, from the unloading and loading of vessels to the transportation and storage of mineral commodities. Furthermore, a detailed estimation of the lifecycle costs and projected revenues was prepared for both current demand and the forecasted demand up to 1404 (2025), in accordance with the regulations of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran.
The technical complexity of this project arises from multiple factors: on one hand, the need to analyze and forecast mineral demand under varying market conditions, and on the other hand, the selection and modeling of appropriate equipment and bulk handling methods for mineral vessels, including fully mechanized systems and mobile harbor equipment. Each option requires precise calculations of capacity, scheduling, cost, and operational efficiency. Together, these elements form a comprehensive framework that enables both the client and investors to make data-driven, technically and economically informed decisions, ensuring the terminal’s operation is carried out with maximum efficiency and profitability.
