Technical and economic feasibility studies for the construction of a container manufacturing plant in the Bandar Abbas area

Introduction

Provision of consulting services for the technical and economic feasibility studies of establishing a plant for manufacturing various types of containers in the Bandar Abbas region, using COMFAR software, which is delivered in the form of a financial model and a Technical and Economic Feasibility Study Report. In this project there is a limitation in access to up‑to‑date and reliable (credible) information. Also, given the fact that numerous economic risks dominate the working environment, sensitivity analysis must be performed, which by itself leads to uncertainty. Therefore, designing a model that can, considering economic fluctuations/changes, give a clear answer to the Employer (Client) is complex. Market identification and study is one of the principal pillars of technical and economic feasibility studies. In the market study these questions must be answered: “Does the market have the necessary absorption capacity for this demand or not? Is the market saturated or does capacity still exist for new entrants?” Answering these questions becomes complex when there is uncertainty in demand. This project comprises four main sections. In the first section, the general (overall) specifications of the project are presented. The second section provides a concise review of the most key technical topics that must be carefully considered prior to undertaking construction of the plant. The four main headings addressed in this section are: raw material supply (procurement of raw materials), production line equipment and hardware requirements, standards, and approvals. In the third section, given the importance of examining the product’s supply and demand situation in feasibility studies, the domestic and international competitors, and the principal markets and key customers active in this industry were identified and examined. The fourth section is dedicated to the economic feasibility study of establishing the container manufacturing plant in Bandar Abbas. In this section, after introduction of the project, the construction (establishment) and operation costs and the revenues derived from implementation of the project are presented. Finally, considering the base assumptions, the economic evaluation calculations and the resulting outcomes are provided.
