National Flood Warning System – Phase II

Introduction

Sazeh Pardazi Iran Consulting Engineering Co. is proud to lead phase II of the national project “Design and Development of the Flood Warning System,” commissioned by the Iran Meteorological Organization. This phase focuses on expanding the system from 550 to 3,050 key locations across secondary-level river basins in the country. The project aims to enhance the country’s forecasting capacity and flood risk management based on advanced forecasting technologies, including the WRF numerical weather prediction model, the HEC-1 hydrological model, and the NAFIS software platform. In addition, a pilot flood warning system based on the distributed WRF-Hydro model is being developed for the Jajroud River Basin (a tertiary-level basin). This project marks a strategic step toward enhancing national flood prediction capabilities, reducing natural disaster risks, and strengthening infrastructure resilience.
