Environmental Impact Assessment Studies of the Jiroft–Bam Railway Axis
Introduction
The Jiroft–Bam railway project, with a total length of 117.7 kilometers, is located in Bam and Jiroft counties. The route branches off from the Kerman–Bam railway line, runs through plains and mountainous areas between the two cities, and terminates at Jiroft Station. Both cities are significant population and cargo centers in the region and will be connected to the national railway network through this project.
The implementation and operation of the Bam–Jiroft railway axis, like other railway projects, entails both positive and negative environmental impacts. Accordingly, an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is being conducted in line with the executive guidelines for preparing EIA reports approved by the High Council for the Environment, and in accordance with the project's terms of reference.
The EIA process includes predicting and analyzing the environmental impacts, proposing mitigation measures, and developing an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) to ensure that potential adverse effects are minimized and the project proceeds sustainably.
