Dredging Studies for the AMIRABAD Port’s Approach channel along with the Western Breakwater
Introduction
Amirabad Port was established with the aim of reducing vessel traffic to the ports of Anzali and Noshahr, and due to the increasing traffic load, it has gained greater importance. The area of Amirabad Port, designated as a free economic zone, encompasses 1,000 hectares of land under its ownership.
One of the major challenges facing this port is the issues of shallow depths and sedimentation at the entrance and access channel, which have intensified in recent years due to the decline in the water level of the Caspian Sea. The Comprehensive Plan for Northern Ports is the latest development project that has been examining various options to improve the condition of Amirabad Port and is currently in its final stages.
Given the recent disruptions in dredging operations, there is a pressing need for dredging the access channel and addressing issues related to sedimentation. In this context, the dredging studies for Amirabad Port have been entrusted to the consulting engineers of Iran's Structural Engineering Company. This project aims to provide effective solutions for maintaining the necessary depth and increasing the operational lifespan of the channel, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Amirabad Port.
