Investment studies for the construction of a mechanized mineral and metal terminal with a capacity of 10 million tons

Introduction

The Mechanized Rail Terminal for Mineral Materials at Shahid Rajaee Port is being constructed by Hamrah Jadeh Rail Darya International Management Company (HIMCO) through an investment contract titled "Land Lease for Investment Purposes for the Construction of Wharf and Mechanized Rail Terminal for Mineral Materials and Its Operation Using Build, Operate, and Transfer (B.O.T.) Method" in the western section of Shahid Rajaee Port, covering an area of 70 hectares (40 hectares of land area and 30 hectares reclaimed from the sea) for mineral material exports with a capacity of 10 million tons. The implementation operations of the mechanized rail terminal for mineral materials at Shahid Rajaee Port include land reclamation, creation of maritime access channel, provision and installation of navigation aids, wharf construction, rail shunting yard, mineral material storage yard, construction of ancillary facilities, and procurement and installation of mechanized equipment for unloading, loading, and transfer of mineral materials. The Mechanized Mineral Materials Terminal at Shahid Rajaee Port, as the first mechanized mineral materials terminal in Iranian ports, plays an important role in the logistics supply chain for the country's mineral materials transportation. The railway lines of the mechanized mineral materials terminal at Shahid Rajaee Port are designed with the goal of attracting 100% rail transport. According to the terminal's final design, trains carrying mineral materials from main origins are transferred to the terminal's shunting yard area, and cargo-carrying wagons are unloaded using mechanized wagon unloading equipment (Tipper), then transported via conveyor belts and storage equipment (Stacker) to storage areas (Stockpile). Additionally, mineral materials are retrieved from storage areas using retrieval equipment (Reclaimer) and transferred via conveyor belts to the wharf, where they are loaded onto ships through ship loading equipment (Shiploader). The significant impact on reducing transportation costs, improving environmental effects, reducing traffic load and road accidents, increasing cargo owner satisfaction, and many other parameters have enhanced the importance of the mechanized mineral materials terminal at Shahid Rajaee Port as a rail-based and mechanized terminal, drawing a bright horizon for upgrading and improving mineral materials trade in accordance with international standards. Sazeh Pardazi Iran Consulting Engineers, based on previous experience in studies for establishing a dedicated mineral materials terminal at Shahid Rajaee Port Complex in 2017, conducted conceptual design studies and financial investment modeling for the construction and operation of the mechanized unloading and loading terminal project for mineral materials at Shahid Rajaee Port. Following these studies, Hamrah Company's contract with the General Administration of Shahid Rajaee Port for the investment contract titled "Land Lease for Investment Purposes for the Construction of Wharf and Mechanized Rail Terminal for Mineral Materials and Its Operation Using Build, Operate, and Transfer (B.O.T.) Method" was concluded in 2019. Currently, Sazeh Pardazi Iran Consulting Engineers Company, as the master consultant in this project, has conducted engineering studies in the field of comprehensive terminal design and, in addition to controlling engineering designs prepared by specialized consultants, is responsible for supervising the project's implementation operations.
